Stillness

By a lake I walk. This morning so still. It’s glassy waters and the motionless trees suspend time.

So, I had a moment to ponder.

If the Earth, spinning on its axis at a speed of 460 metres per second (at the Equator), while orbiting the Sun at 30 kilometres per second, as it’s carried along by our solar system which hurtles across the Milky Way at a frantic 230 kilometres per second, can create places of perfectly serene calm then I should too.

Inspired, I spend this gift of a moment breathing steadily and deeply and otherwise being as still as I could be.

And life felt good.
