Lingering chatters

They play on my mind

Really seem to matter

Do you know the kind?

Loose ends poorly tied

Promises partly kept

Dilemmas not resolved

Things not done, now left

Lingering chatters

Living in a debate

What does really matter?

Is finding out worth the wait?

Was there a better way?

Would I change what’s said?

Are there things to say?

Is my ledger in the red?

Lingering chatters

Those voices in my head

Telling me what matters

Warning me where to tread

With each victory a sense of loss

From each defeat the light of hope

Rolling stones: Do they yearn for moss?

What matters is how best I cope.
